I won’t wait for the day just to come along
To take my pain & replace it with something warm
A better place at a pace I can run along with you
Dreaming of the seventies
And all the places I would rather be
Lately days have latency
And all the dissonance is silencing
But what if it’s not up to me?
And what if it’s just out of reach?
What’s the point if no one needs?
A sunset you will never see
I won’t wait for the day just to come along
To take my pain & replace it with something warm
A better place at a pace I can run along with you
You and I had found our peace
In the ORANGEBLUE eternity
With evergreens all we could see
Two squirrels scuttle in the Old Oak Tree
But who am I unaccompanied?
A paddle boat at open sea
A mutt they chain me to the tree
They cut my eyes and let me bleed
I won’t wait for the day just to come along
To take my pain & replace it with something warm
A better place at a pace I can run along with you
A sunset tune just for two is a metaphor
For somewhere new with a view we’ve been waiting for
The ORANGEBLUE, I refuse to give up a world with you
I won’t wait
Take my pain
A better place
With you
A sunset tune
Somewhere new
ORANGEBLUE
With you
A concise little EP on a barebones vinyl. This album touched me very differently than their previous works; I was in a different space, but it also doesn't seem to lean so heavily on ideas about relationships, breakups, and loneliness (returning to those notably in a cover of Cher's "Believe" as the closing track). Guest Room, the title track, deals with death, aging, and adult responsibilities, which are ideas much more close to me. jammingdevice
A sprawling, 25-song set from Pete Yorn complete with covers of Springsteen and The Smiths capture him at his unguarded best. Bandcamp New & Notable May 16, 2020
