I had my last ginger chew after a week with you, love
By the open blue I’ll sing a sunset tune for two, love
Now we’re stuck inside this cage with memories on replay of
Times when skies were not so grey, a mirror in a frame of
ORANGEBLUE, sunset view
There’s no ORANGEBLUE without you
Toast bread, avocado tastes best waking up in your bed
French press, shut out all the darkness, kiss away the weekend
ORANGEBLUE, sunset view
There’s no ORANGEBLUE without you
Read the morning news, a shortened fuse
Now I’m torn to choose, and paying dues
That first glimpse in your room
Heard it in a lullaby tune
Sirens sing over you
When Nothing’s Everything to do
When the world is so skewed
Spotlight in the dark, your breaking through
Need the ORANGEBLUE
But only if you’re watching it too
A concise little EP on a barebones vinyl. This album touched me very differently than their previous works; I was in a different space, but it also doesn't seem to lean so heavily on ideas about relationships, breakups, and loneliness (returning to those notably in a cover of Cher's "Believe" as the closing track). Guest Room, the title track, deals with death, aging, and adult responsibilities, which are ideas much more close to me. jammingdevice
A sprawling, 25-song set from Pete Yorn complete with covers of Springsteen and The Smiths capture him at his unguarded best. Bandcamp New & Notable May 16, 2020
