Sitting facing South on a Northbound moving train
Unaware of how, come a month it all would change
I pass the waiting room, in a way, I’m waiting too
To lay in bed come your week’s end and fade into the Blue
& the Green in your eyes
Like foam on the shore
In every sunrise
Every sunset even more
With every goodbye,
Like rose petals on the floor
Now I’m stringing out on your parent’s basement couch
Can’t wrap my head around how the past few months went down
Another sunset tune, A New England summer you
A better place to change the pace
And sail into the Blue
& the Green in your eyes
Like foam on the shore
In every sunrise
Every sunset even more
With every goodbye,
Like rose petals on the floor

A concise little EP on a barebones vinyl. This album touched me very differently than their previous works; I was in a different space, but it also doesn't seem to lean so heavily on ideas about relationships, breakups, and loneliness (returning to those notably in a cover of Cher's "Believe" as the closing track). Guest Room, the title track, deals with death, aging, and adult responsibilities, which are ideas much more close to me. jammingdevice
A sprawling, 25-song set from Pete Yorn complete with covers of Springsteen and The Smiths capture him at his unguarded best. Bandcamp New & Notable May 16, 2020
